Our Right Worthy Grand Preceptor, Sir Lee of Bromley-by-Bow welcomes you to the Home page of the Commemorative Order of St. Thomas of Acon for the Province of East Anglia. Our province covers the geographical areas of Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and France! There are currently eleven Chapels within the Province with two recently being consecrated at Cannes in France and two more planned; one for Toulouse and for King's Lynn in Norfolk early in the new year.
The Commemorative Order of Saint Thomas of Acon is the only Masonic Order to have it’s origins recorded as a matter of fact in the Guildhall Library, London and is wholly dedicated to Saint Thomas à Becket. The history of the Order can be read by following the link to the Order’s Website. Since 1974 interest in this beautiful Christian Order, in which ‘Humiltas et Caritas’, Humility and Charity, is practiced, has proliferated worldwide.
The Order is a sovereign British Masonic Organisation. Membership, which is by invitation only, is restricted to those who are subscribing members of a Preceptory (Commandery) in amity with the Great Priory of the United Religious, Military and Masonic Order of the Temple of England and Wales and Provinces Overseas (commonly referred to as the Knights Templar).
Our Charities raise monies for the support and upkeep of Canterbury Cathedral
The Province of East Anglia was constituted on Saturday the 20th day of September 2003 at Newmarket in Suffolk, as such we are the oldest Province in existence and I am privileged to be the fourth Grand Preceptor.
I hope that in visiting this site, either as a member or an interested visitor, that you will enjoy the content and gain a greater understanding of the Commemorative Order and our activities.
With special thanks to Sir Harry (Randell) of Benfro, R.W. Grand Preceptor of Wessex for the use of his template and his ongoing guidance.
Yours in Humilitas et Caritas
Sir Lee (Millross) of Bromley-by-Bow
Right Worthy Grand Preceptor - East Anglia
